A couple of the ways that we give back to the community, we are constantly being asked to support different activities whether it's kids’ sport teams or recital programs or yearbook ads or whatever it might be, we always do our best to contribute as much as we can, within reason, and in supporting those events because so many requests come in. Some of the favorites that we have are doing what we call, “Dentistry from the Heart.” It's where we set aside a day, typically once a year, where we are able to provide dental care for free for those in need.
It tends to be the best day of our year, from a standpoint of being able to give back. Those that work those days with us, they find that there's nothing better to have that sense of giving and being able to give back to those in need. Also, then to see the smiles on the faces of those that are in such desperate need of some sort of treatment. Oftentimes, it's the person in pain that can't afford to go somewhere to receive regular care that we're able to help. Those are the things that I see are ways that we're able to give back to the community.
That love for his hometown extends to his involvement in community service. He participates in Dentistry From The Heart, an organization in which dentists host events in their local communities that provide free dental services to those in need. We’ve provided more than $100,000 in dental care to 250 worthy recipients through this program. Dr. Watterson was selected as a 2017 Healthcare Angel by Jackson Magazine!
In addition, Dr. Watterson coaches soccer, is an active volunteer at his church, and helps with Marriage Matters events.
As part of our commitment to being a good neighbor, Watterson Family Dentistry also sponsors candy buybacks at Halloween and holiday food and toy drives.
