I really find it important with people that have anxiety to be able to relate with them, to sit down, to be calm, to address their needs, address their concerns, get an understanding of what it is that brought about the anxiety to begin with. At that point, then we have a better understanding and we can start to build that relationship.
If we can treat that person like a friend, oftentimes that anxiety starts to subside. It's not going to go away, I can't change that necessarily, but we can start to build that relationship that allows them to start to trust us. Then, we can talk more about what it is that their needs are, why are they coming to us in the first place, and then what are the opportunities for us to share with them about how we can care for their needs, and be able to move forward with treatment as necessary.
Worse, your dental anxiety may affect how your children and other family members feel about the dentist.
Fortunately, our compassionate team can help you beat your dental anxiety. We can relax you with amenities like pillows and blankets. And if you’re still edgy, we can offer you dental sedation.
Let us help you relax at the dentist! Call Watterson Family Dentistry at 517-888-0021.
Our Caring Staff Keeps You Cool
Our patients describe us with words like “knowledgeable,” “kind,” “gentle,” and “patient.” We go the extra mile to ensure your comfort!
Dr. Scott Watterson even uses a special technique to gently distract you as he administers local anesthesia. Our staff and patients call it the “Watterson Shake.” Our top-notch dentist even took advanced studies at Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation to better help patients who are experiencing dental anxiety.
Just about every experience is more pleasant with a cozy pillow and blanket, including a visit to the dentist. So we’ll offer both to you, along with TVs and headphones you can use as a welcome distraction during your dental treatments.
If you’re still feeling anxious, despite all of the special treatment, we can provide dental sedation. We offer both inhaled sedation and oral sedation, one of which will soothe your nerves.
